I finally found the time to start showing you some of the restaurants…
One our favorite is BELVEDERE: you find it in the city center (Old town) and it is situated in the beginning of the way where the hiking path to Vernazza starts. It is a family business and Roberto is one of the owners: he is always in good mood and singing on his bike in Monterosso or in between the tables 🙂 You will be professionally served, you will eat in a fantastic way and you will certainly wish to return 🙂
It is a perfect place if you have large tables and children with you: they have special menu for kids and the prices are very well balanced with the quality which it offers.
Since you will see underneath a list of restauarants and many plates of typical Ligurian food, I would like to get your curiosity looking at the pictures here below of a special meal which you can only find in Belvedere….”L’anfora”.
Apart from that, of course you can eat here all the appetizers, pasta’s and fish preparations as everywhere else…

Behind the main square of the city center, you find, on the right side of Via Roma, a tiny little street (a typical “carugio”): Via XX Settembre and RISTORANTE VIA VENTI
A very nicely presented kitchen with professional service. All the dishes are based on the Ligurian tradition but they are tastefully revisited and it is a real pleausure for your eyes and your mouth 🙂

In the main square of the older part of Monterosso, “Causapersa” has opened its doors in the beginning of August and it is already a restaurant with a top score 😊
Beside the fact that the location is pretty and the tables are set up in a beautiful way with lots of taste, the food is DELICIOUS and the service is friendly and easy going.
Chef Paolo Sanvitale is capable to match ingredients in a brilliant way and his dishes are tasty, well balanced, innovative but still based on tradition. He offers not only Ligurian receipts but also from other regions of Italy which makes the choice even more interesting !!! Do not hesitate to try it: with lots of pleasure I will reserve a table for you 😊 and I’m sure you will not be disappointed !!! Another little 🌟 is born in Monterosso and wish them all the best they do deserve 😉
You have seen: “Acciughe in saor”, “Polpo croccante su purea”, “Maccheroni con calamari”, “Bottoni cacio pepe” (one of the most delicious items I ever ate 😋😋😋!!!!), “Mandilli al pesto” e “Cheesecake cotta alle fragole”.
In another tiny street (Via Vittorio Emanuele) on the left side coming from the main square of Old Monterosso, you will immediately discover L’OSTERIA, a very typical, small and always full restaurant. The menu isn’t large but the food is excellent and the service is very friendly.
Don’t miss here the “ravioli di branzino” (sea bass ravioli) and “insalata di polipo” octopus salad: they are very special prepared like anywhere else in town. Considering the smallness of the local, you really need to reserve a table or you might get any !!

Of course, in the other side of Monterosso, where the apartments are locatated, there are also some excellent restaurants……
A short walk after the railway bridge of Via Molinelli (same street as AzzurroMare and IrisBlu), you will find LA TAVERNA restaurant, which makes also delicious pizza’s and Ligurian speciality. But there is more than this: on the menu there are also Sicilian dishes, since the roots of the owener, Piero, are that beautiful region of Italy. He knows what “good food” means also because in his “younger” days, was a chef himself. With a brand new bar buffet inside the restaurant, you will also be able to enjoy excellent aperitifs before starting the meal.

Going back to the corner of Via Molinelli and the Sea front……
The most known which doesn’t even need a presentation is MIKY: since 1980 they keep growing as one of the pillar of the top “haute cuisine” in the Cinque Terre.
Just have a look to the dishes here below and reserve on time a table to enjoy a tasty meal with a large wine list and an impeccable service…

LA CANTINA di MIKY
This very nicely equipped restaurant is open all the day long: you cannot reserve outside but just cue and wait for a free place; the dining room in the cellar instead, also very special, gives the possibility to reserve places. Sitting outside during the warm months, you will enjoy very well prepared food with beautiful view and accompanied by a quick and attentive service. This place is certainly one of our favorite 🙂

LA BARCACCIA
a very good restaurant with a small menu and possibility of (good) pizza. I advise this place for family with children and for who wishes to spend a little less money for a very well prepared food. Easy look and friendly service. You have herethe best desserts of Monterosso: they homemade from Chiara, the wife’s owner….Reserve a table since the place is always full 😉

L’ANCORA della TORTUGA
If you take the stairs between Fegina (newer Monterosso) and Old Monterosso, you will immediately notice beautiful prepared outside tables with a breathtaking view on the sea at “L’Ancora della Tortuga”: already your eyes are happy to admire such a unique scenary and your palate won’t be disappointed at all 😉 Look at the pictures here below…..

TORRE AURORA ….mare cucina & cockails
This is, without exception, the most beautifully located restaurant in Monterosso !
Torre Aurora is the symbol of the village, built around the year 1000 to cope the attack of the pirates. Around the year 1200 it made part of Genova Republic, was fortified and used to prevent the incursions of barbarians. Many centuries afterwards, it was still in hand of the last (private) family owner who decided in 2017 offering everybody the possibility to admire it.
In fact, in this magical place, you can have just a cocktail, something small to eat or choose from their menu which is very nicely presented and will make your eyes and mouth happy and satisfied: only fresh and tasty combined ingredients.
